Discography: Contemporary

With all the publicity over John Foulds's re-habilitation as a gifted but maligned British composer, it is occasionally easy to forget the successes he had in his lifetime. Although these focussed mainly on his works in the so-called 'light music' genre, they are not to be dismissed out of hand. Below is a list of recordings made earlier in the 20th century—most only existing in original 78 rpm format—most as listed in McDonalds’ discography, with references to copies at the British Library Sound Archive where found. All the recordings listed appear to be over 50 years old and are therefore out of mechanical copyright, but because the music itself is still in copyright (until 70 years after the death of the composer), permission from the publisher (not the recording label) is required before personal (or otherwise) copies can be made by the Sound Archive's professional dubbing service (http://www.bl.uk/collections/sound-archive/nsacharged.html) and so far I have not yet heard back from publishers.
