Reviews
Released to somewhat sniffy reviews, this is Danny Elfman's first ballet
score, written for chroeographer Twyla Tharp with American Ballet Theater.
By all accounts, Elfman seems to have written a score that wears his
admiration for the Russian ballet masters (in particular Stravinsky
and Prokofiev) proudly on its sleeve. That said, Elfman's multi-movement
45 minute work was scored for amplified electronics in addition to orchestra;
by all accounts the collaboration appears to have been smooth and admiration
mutual.
